I had to use my old-school, paper dictionary the other week, and I got sucked in. I love words, and I forgot how much I loved having a dictionary full of them under my finger tips.

I found the word I needed to describe my current direction: swerve.

tr. & intr.v. swerved, swerv·ing, swervesTo turn aside or be turned aside from a straight course.n.The act of swerving.

[Middle English swerven, from Old English sweorfan, to rub, scour.]

I am deviating from the normal course of things in my life. I am swerving into something new and something different. I am veering into a new lane.

My #GetChose2013 initiative has been going well on the work front (i.e., tenured and promoted, book being released, new projects and collaborations initiated) and the writing front. It’s going well on the friend front and the spiritual fronts.

On the dating front, #getchose has taken a backseat. I’ve backed off the idea of finding the boo-thang of my dreams and have decided to take things (glacially) slow.

For awhile. I need to get focused on what I want, which will lead me to who I want (and possible a day filled with lace, rings, and a commitment ceremony of some sort).

I’m still #getchose2013, but I’m focusing on some other projects and opportunities that are coming out of fuzziness and dreaminess.

Allow to swerve for a bit. I will get back on track one day this year.
